Delivery was quick. When costructed the shelves are only just stiff enough to instill confidence. The individual parts are flexible, making construction difficult. The instructions need improved. Pre construction of the sides makes the task much easier. Overall a good product which has tidied up my garage..

Brilliant product. Strong, well made and easy to assemble

I ordered a Storalex, 1800h X 1800w X 600d, 5 Level, 200kg UDL rack from Tufferman. I must start by saying that I think that the product is excellent. It was reasonably priced and there were many sizes to choose from. I was working alone and by slightly modifying the assembly instructions I was able to quickly and SAFELY assemble this large rack without additional help. I recognise that this rack appears flimsy until fully assembled and the shelves are only thin but it does does not pretend to by HEAVY DUTY racking (which is easily available at increased cost). It suits my present needs perfectly.

I award this product only 1 star because the location tabs on at least 8 of the components were SERIOUSLY bent/distorted. All components were delivered in a single cardboard box, which had been dropped on one end. Externally, the box looked OK, but the inside face was damaged in numerous places, as were various rack components (as mentioned above). Obviously, the damage could have been caused by the Storalex, Tufferman (although it's possible that they never handle the product) or the delivery company. However, I have read other reviews of similar products and they have also mentioned damage caused by rough handling.

The only people who can prevent this problem are Storalex. To be fair, they do put a large notice (in bold print) on the cardboard box indicating that the contents are fragile - so good luck with that one. Storalex need to modify their packaging - maybe they could start by incorporating polystyrene packing inside each end of the box, similar to that used to protect white goods. Also, Tufferman need to raise this as an issue with Storalex (not sure how much weight that would carry).

Finally, having had lots of DIY experience, I spent over an hour carefully straightening out all the bent bits of my new racking (what is the point of asking for a replacement which might well turn out to be another box of mangled metal). However, I was aware that the repair process might have caused the metal to crack - in which case I would have sent it back.

SUMMARY - only 1 star for a very good product - because a customer should not have to repair brand new goods before they can use them.
